good idea, but kids that age in my family and that are near by are all boys who like airplanes and war things, except for a cousin who actually has a AG, but she lives far away in Atlanta.

That would be funny! To have your little brother or boy cousin carrying an AG doll in public for you! I think my brothers would rather have nails going through their heads before they would do that!

I'm 22 and regularly take mine to work with me. I hosted two traveling dolls back in the summer and they each spent a day at work with me. I'm a tour guide at Kent Plantation House in Louisiana, and both of the dolls were "Yankees" so it was very fun!

I'm debating whether or not to take one tomorrow before the rain moves back in... I just can't decide who! Probably Felicity.

That's when having a 4 and a 7 year old (both girls) comes in handy. I can carry my AG anywhere when I'm with them, and everyone assumes I'm carrying their doll! Although they have been known to tell people, "no, It's Mommy's!"

I love childrens honesty, it can often get the adults in trouble! LOL!

That's awsome that you took your dolls to your work with you. Sounds like an interesting place to work! I ove history, that's why AG dolls are so close to my heart!

I understand how you feel, I'm 15 and right now my doll collection is more of a private thing. Only my close friends and family know.
I wouldn't feel too embarrassed if I was on vacation or somewhere no one knew me, but I would never take them to the mall or grocery store or something.

I took my dolls out and it was wonderful!

Here is my version of a "Seen with my dolls" manual:

Take your dolls out and stride boldy through posing and picture taking. Take many pics of each pose from every angle. Take the time to adjust the doll's body or clothes. If you feel like a professional then you will look like one.

Proudly tell everyone you see that you are contributing to a worldwide website. Tell them that you are part of a wonderful group of people that are using dolls to create a historical and cultural record for children of all ages all over the world.

Everyone knows that there is nothing drier and more uninteresting than history, geography, and sociology texts for children. Tell them that you are on a mission to spark interest and understanding across the globe.

Tell them one tenth of what I just said and watch their faces light up. Ask them if they would like to be part of your project? Most will be honored to smile and pose with your doll.

I know this is true because it happened to me over and over again, even at the grocery store and the post office. Give people a chance. If you are happy and confident, people will want to be part of it. Hold your head up high and remember that you are more than a doll photographer, you are an ambassador! P.S. My teenage daughter suggests that you start someplace where no one knows you. LOL I think that is good advice. Sometimes it is easier to begin among strangers, though you might want to bring along a friend for moral support or doll support.

If you don't have a friend that can help you then ask an acquaintance. Who knows, you might make a new friend for you and your dolls.

I went on a road trip across the country and brought Josefina and I was embarrased to take pictures outside sometimes but it was way to much fun not to bring her! Go for it!
